Kraven the Hunter

I sincerely do not know why I chose to go watch this Train Wreck of a movie, even after I had heard so much about how Terrible it was, okay that's unfair, let's revise that.

No actually you know what let's not, cause even if I look at the good aspects of this movie, the one big mistake it makes is so big that.... well, let's get to it shall we?

Before I talk about the movie itself I need to set up a little bit of a stage, for my personal experience, and why I think of this movie the way I do.

Some years ago, I found a movie called Assassin's run, and the way I found it was by setting YouTube on Auto-play and someone who had uploaded the whole movie just got lucky enough to get a full view from me.

And the thing is, I really enjoyed this movie, but only at that time, when I watched that same movie again with a friend, I didn't really enjoy it as much, also, when I watched it on YouTube it obviously did not have the name of the movie, it had Top movies la la la la whatever whatever written on it.

So when I searched for it on google, the movie that came up had a poster that had nothing to do with the Movie, that focused on a Ballerina married to a rich oil tycoon who lost her Husband and home and is left with just her Daughter and in order to protect her turns her Ballet skills into a Badass ninja's skills and then kills everyone.

Assassin's Run

What does any of this have to do with Assassins or Running or Christian Slater and Cole Hauser in Army Fatigues?

I'll tell you what

You see this movie obviously fucking bombed at the Box office and was Dragged through the ground by the 24(that's the number of IMDB reviews this movie has, I guess including me that's 25, congratulations you made it to a Quarter century!!!) people who watched it.

But I did enjoy it the first time around, and importantly, I do not think this is because of this movie lacking re-watch Value, it is because of the setting.

You see, what would happen if you went to a theatre and paid the ticket price only to sit down and be shown a YouTube video?

You would want your money back wouldn't you?

And this is not about expectations on Quality, it's more about expectations on Presentation.

See the idea of a Ballerina becoming a badass is in my humble opinion is amazing enough on it's own but the presentation of the movie, makes it so that if you pay too much attention then you immediately start to notice some cracks forming.

Like flowers that don't rot for example.

Similarly, we have Kraven the Hunter, throughout this movie there are many aspects which made me go, well, I can see what they were going for, but, it just doesn't fit, in the words of a YouTube video I watched, it seems like someone watched a Movie making Ted Talk and made a movie.

The idea is not bad, the Idea of a son wanting to break free from his abusive father and going on a spree to kill people who do similar things, is amazing.

But this is attached to the fact that it is a movie, so presentation please, and on top of that, these are beloved Comic book characters the presentation matters even more!!!

You know what would have fixed this movie? Number one get rid of the Kraven Branding, Number two, let the team do the job properly, or make it an indie film or youtube film.

And that last part is what makes this so insidious in my opinion, this movie feels like a solo YouTube project made for the budget of a movie, and who's to say that it isn't one?

There is some evidence to the idea that Studios do sometimes pick up smaller directors in hopes that they will do what the executives say without questions, so maybe that's it, again, all my opinion.
