Agatha All Along was a follow up to WandaVision, basically the first time two Marvel T.V. shows had some serious connective tissue between the two of them, and is it a good Sequel series?
Well, these two episodes actually land it firmly in yes territory.
A good sequel has two major jobs, which often clash with each other, one is to give more of the world that the previous one set up and the other is to progress the story and give all the present characters good character arcs, all while, and this is important, feeling similar to the previous one.
So where is this show on those fronts.
Well first, in the very first Article I had written for this show, I mentioned that the Hex equivalent for this show is the Witches Road, now I was just saying it in terms of an in universe explanation for why the characters are suddenly living out versions of old Horror movies, I had no Idea how true what I said was.
After finally exiting the witches Road, we learn that the Road isn't real, it is just something that Agatha had made up in order to lure Gullible witches to her in order to steal their powers.
So what were they doing the last few episodes? They were in a hex created by Billy.
He made it based on his own research.
Does it give the characters a good Arc? Well considering each individual episode was focused on giving one particular character their Development due, that is a Resounding yes, especially if you look at episodes like episode 7.
The problem that the show was inevitably going to face however, if everything that happened was a spell and not reality, then what was the point of all this?
Well the point was that the road was fake and it was not, It was fake that it never was present in the form it was described, but it was real in the sense that it did serve the purpose it was meant to serve.
Jen found her way to freedom from her bondage, Agatha found her power, Lillia found her coven, Alice broke her curse and Billy helped his brother find a body.
And Death? Well Death found her bodies, all but Jen and Billy die.
Rio/Death claims them all.
Speaking of, let's talk about Death, now coming from a certain perspective it does look like she is Evil, I mean she wants to kill everyone, but from another point, she is Tragic, she is Necessary for the world to be in balance, Taking people who are dead is her job.
A Job that forces her to do things she doesn't like.
Like Taking Agatha's son, I believe Death did love Agatha, that is why she gave her time with her son, but in the end, Death comes for us all.
But the one thing that bothered me in the beginning that this episode dealt with was Agatha, in the comics she is not an evil Witch, she is Wanda's mentor, and if you look at the Midnight Suns video game she is a benevolent Ghost.
And while she says that she didn't sacrifice herself for Billy, and instead took a Calculated risk to become a Ghost, I believe she did sacrifice herself, and she also took a Calculated risk.
And who knows maybe she will enter her role of the Nanny to Franklin Richards, the son of Sue Storm and Reed Richards.
