Eyes of Wakanda, Four stories about a generations long Struggle.

The beautiful pencil art intro to Eyes of Wakanda.

Eyes of Wakanda, a very straightforward title for something that is anything but...

If there is one complaint I have about this show is that it kind of ends too soon?

But I guess there are worse things to say about something than I wish there was more of it...

So what is this series about?

Basically, Wakanda has had the monopoly on the worlds most valuable resource and for a country with so much power, they have held a surprisingly humanitarian position, however, it is very obvious that like in any country as big as Wakanda there will be certain elements who would see an opportunity in this immense power that they hold over others.

It does not take that much to lord over them as a possible "god".

The Lion using his powers.

that is where the first story of the Wakandan War dogs comes in, it follows the Ex Dora Milaje Noni as she is sent on a mission to capture and bring back or rather just Eliminate the Lion as he becomes a threat against Wakanda.

The Lion was an Ex War dog, spies sent by Wakanda to prevent other countries from attaining Vibranium or tech powerful enough to become a threat to the heaven they have created.

While outside on mission he basically realized, hey! I don't have to follow these people! I like lording over the insects! And essentially became a terrorist

So he is basically Wakanda's version of Osama Bin Ladein.

But Noni did not know that when she was sent on this mission, she was just doing what she felt was right.

But it turns out for a super covert group, the entrance into it is in itself super covert, and her mission was a test to see if she would like to sign up for the same.

Akeya recruits Noni as a war dog.

One would then rightfully think that we are going to follow Noni for the rest of the story, but this is an anthology, one that spans generations, and so we skip forwards... to the siege of Troy? Yeah of course the Wakandans were there too.

And I guess its a testament to how much the contribution of those with Black Skin has been suppressed in this world that Marvel created that absolutely no one remembered that Achilies, the supposed Hero of Troy had a very close friend called Memnon, whom he regarded as a brother.

I guess it was easy to suppress someone who already felt like an outsider and also apparently betrayed them midway...

Or

They wanted their fictional nation to be a part of some big historical even and didn't really think that much.

Whatever, while the first story highlights why the Wardogs even need to exist and how they themselves are often the source of the biggest threats to Wakanda as they are sent on these covert missions with little to no contact with their home.

This story highlights how this job often takes a serious toll on those doing it.

While Memnon's job was straight forwards, get the necklace and return to Wakanda, he did really consider Achilies a friend, he was invested in his goal, he wanted his friend to succeed, but at the same time, he couldn't let Achilies get to his objective first or he would take the artifact, and that is almost nearly what happened.

And Memnon is forced to kill his friend.

Achilies v/s Memnon.

Noni who is now much older and taken over the role her superior Akeya had, is the only one who has any understanding of what he is going through and what toll it has taken on him.

But is it all seriousness and darkness?

Well, No! Says Agent Basha.

Sometimes it is flying off Radar and having a random affair by the current owner of the heart of Shao Lao the Undying, the current Iron Fist Jorani, she found Basha freezing half to death and rescued him, making it very easy to reach the piece of Vibranium in a Dragon's statue's tongue, and also getting a chance to be with a baddie according to Basha.

Too bad this baddie bites.

Basha's mistake almost gets his ex lover killed and starts a feud between China and Wakanda, and all he had to do in order to not do that is...

Either be more careful, or...

"If you had just told me from the start, I would've helped you."

Seeing Jorani as an Iron fist in animation is a treat for the eyes, and it is also interesting to see what will happen if these people don't take extra care, at the same time, the fact that this is presented in a comedic way is actually good before the Finale makes everything super super serious.

And what is the Finale?

It is the Secret Society of Second Born Royals.

Oh no wait, Prince Tafari is the Third prince.

This story, while bringing into cannon one of the best villains from Marvel comics in my opinion( The Horde) also answers a question that most people will probably have only after the show is over.

If the Wakandans are working tirelessly to bring back all stolen Artifacts, how is it that Killmonger found the Axe that lead to the events of Black Panther one?

The answer is simple, someone from the Future time travelled to tell the Wardogs retrieving it that it must be put back.

Somehow this story about the History of Wakanda made a story about its future too.

And the fact that this involves the third prince of Wakanda is pretty poignant as well, because this story is about a generational struggle, a struggle to secure Wakanda's future by keeping its safe heaven secure.

But in the end, it turns out the real way to survive was not a hundred percent secrecy, it is to reveal yourselves in the right way at the right time.

Future Wakandans nearly loosing to the Horde due to their secrecy.

Because the truth is, even the most powerful nation of them all, needs help to survive, even though in reality it is their tech that gives humanity the best fighting chance.

All that is fine and all, but I for one cannot wait for the Horde to attack in the Future and for the Avengers to team up against them once again, because this is coming right?

Why else would you tease this?

Oh no wait I forgot about Moon Knight.... Fuck... So did Marvel I guess...
