So the finale of this show finally happened, and I can now confidently say this is the most Definitive modernization of Spiderman I have ever seen.
You see, things such as Spiderman, they are an Idea, that is the core of the character, yes I got that from Batman Begins, you're very smart we get it.
The question all modernizations must ask themselves, is how does one preserve the Idea while changing the initial conditions, because changing that something else is going to change even if superficially.
And people are into appearances no matter how much we dislike it, at least the internet is consistent in that way. Because many people just cannot shut up about how much they dislike the fact that this Lonnie Lincoln is not white, I mean this one actually is okay in one way because Tombstone has skin made of Marble and well that is white, but um... Idk I don't think that's the angle most people raising this complaint are going with but maybe I'm dumb.

But speaking of Tombstone, his existence in this story is very interesting, as far as I am aware he got his first major debut in the spotlight with into the spider verse, until then he was a somewhat lesser known villain, since then, he has been featured heavily in spiderman media including the 2018 game.
Every "anti-woke" person online has made a hoopla about how his character shows the common struggles of a Black or African America person in America, obviously many have an issue with the fact that he is black citing "comic accuracy" not realizing that in the comics he is an Albino African American.
So...
But one thing that is quite clear to everyone is that in the comics he is a villain, which... he is very close to being even here, he is in a gang, he steals things, in fact being with the gang is the reason he was caught in the middle of a fight and what caused him to get doused in chemicals and become.... a hero helping Spider Man?
You see the interesting thing is, this isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened.
Earlier there was a cartoon called the Ultimate Spider-Man based on the Ultimate comics of course and in that cartoon Dr. Connors did exist, and he became the Lizard obviously, but before he did there was a brief period where it appeared that he would help Spider-Man in his super-heroing.

But obviously it didn't go that way.
The same thing appears to be happening with Lonnie Lincoln, but whereas Lizard's turn happened very quickly like in the same episode, this however seems different.
Not only because this appears to be the long game, but because Lonnie is the one who takes the moral High ground in stopping Peter from doing something terrible, in the exact same way that Peter 2(Toby Maguire) did in No Way Home.
But then later on he becomes the leader of a Gang.
Similarly when it comes to Norman Osborn, even though it is quite clear that he is playing Peter for his own ends, going behind his back to reveal his identity to General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. Calling him a Superhero "Asset" and then trying to figure out the secret to his powers.(This last part is also another similarity with Ultimate Spider man.)
But he is also saying all the right things and trying his best to be a good parental figure to Peter and actually saying(most of) the right things. I mean yes the Great Power thing is way off, but the rest is not.
All this essentially drives home the philosophy that this show is presenting, that anyone can choose to be bad, especially those with power, but some choose not to, and they make this choice everyday.

Things are not Black and white, they are complicated and that is what makes this show special, what also makes it special is the time loop that it establishes in which a Spider born of the research on Spider-Man's powers goes back in time with Strange and bites peter to give him the powers.
That is where this timeline diverged, that and the fact that Richard Parker is still actually alive.
So I guess I was correct about noticing the green glow in episode 1, just wrong about what it meant.
Guess it happens to the best of us.
So somehow in this complicated world where not even the people you look upto are actually the best, where one of his best friends is actually getting ready to become a secret Blood Witch, can Peter be just Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman?
