Iron Heart Finale, Hollow victory at the end of temptation...

Mephisto's true Form visible in a reflection in a spoon...

MEPHISTO CONFIRMED!!!! I mean you know I had to start with that don't you, it has been ever since Wanda-Vision that we all have been clamoring for when the intergalactic and interdimensional Big Bad was going to show his face, who knows maybe he already did, I mean the devil is in the details after all.

Thanks for this Gem Screen Crush.

But we will let channels like Screen Crush decide on whether the Devil has made any more deals in the MCU or whether he is secretly behind the Darkhold or something making all of the Wanda-Vision theories at least somewhat true, but alright.

I am here to comment on the larger part that Mephisto plays in this show and how he ties into the themes of the show as a whole.

And for that, first let's see how he describes the kinds of people he makes deals with.

Mephisto describes his "Clientele"

Now, the one thing someone needs to keep in mind while reading/hearing all of this, is that Mephisto is a master manipulator, he doesn't control people, he influences, after all he is based on the Devil, someone who is known as the deceiver, so while we can't be sure if this describes Riri well, or even his clientele well, we can be sure that this is how most of them must feel, they believe this to be true about themselves.

What Mephisto is telling us, is these are the type of people he likes to target, due to their various and obvious vulnerabilities, there maybe other types of people he interacts with as well but this seems to be the main type.

Firstly let's look at Riri's story, Riri is someone who has had quite a hard life, but then there are many things that happened to her that her quite amazing as well, and she made full use of those advantages, I mean she made an entire Iron Suit, and she was almost called Iron Heart in this Season, but I guess it's a Wanda-Scarlet with situation, to be fair there never was a proper time to just say her name out loud was there... but then high rewards require high risks, and it seems the people giving her those advantages aren't ready to accept those risks...

And stop her from reaching her goal when she is right there...

But she keeps going...

Except because she believes her cause to be high enough, she justifies crime...

Which maybe it would have been worth it, but crime is a crime...

So it is someone who feels they haven't been given their due, and think it's fine to dabble into a little darkness, it will all be worth it.

That is Riri, and That is Parker Robins.

Parker is corrupted by the Hood...

But Mephisto has his own goals, he is the embodiment of the saying, never accept candy from strangers.

He corrupts those he influences, and uses them for his own ends.

And it appears his ultimate goal was Riri, parker was just a means to an end, and in a move that is bolder than "I am your Father"(Yeah I said it.) Riri actually makes a deal with the Devil, for the sake of her friends life.

After all, the reason the AI version of Natalie is gone is because of her wanting to imbue her suit with magic to fight The Hood, Magic took Natalie, Magic will bring her back.

Except she is back, really back, like she never died.

Riri hugs Natalie as she gets corrupted.

Might seem like a good thing at first until you remember that Natalie remembers nothing, and one day the bill will come due...

Mordo says the Bill Comes Due. Always!

I wish there was much more we could talk about this finale, but that is pretty much it, I wrote most of my thoughts about the entire show in the article for the first three episodes, I mean Ezekiel Stane became his bio-enhanced self in these three episodes, but it kind of just happened, and then he was controlled by Parker and then kicked in the nuts to become free...

And There was a time when everyone thought the Hood was from Dormammu as it is in the comics but as Mephisto Put it:

Mephisto makes fun of Dormammu.
Uh huh, good to know you have an asshole that also needs cleaning sometimes... Does the Devil take a shit???

So that happened, Mephisto is here and he gave Riri what he wanted but in the end it will feel just as hollow as Parker's victory did to him.

And then Mephisto will come calling...

Mephisto warning Parker to speak to him properly...

Sasha Baron Cohen did a great job man, I mean I along with many others was a little suspicious when he was cast, but this Mephisto is perfect, even though he only ever appears in his human form and his true Devil self is only seen in a reflection in a spoon.
