Mickey 17, Even in the stars, Humanity repeats the same shit.

Mickey 17 and Nasha

Mickey 17 might seem like your average Gimmick movie, or futuristic movie, or a lot of other things that it was sold on, but in reality it is a piece of political parody.

Allow me to explain, Mickey 17 dies and then comes back as such the value of one of his bodies is next to nothing, and it is because of this perceived lack of value that every single version of Mickey is just treated like shit.

Tossed around, killed, experimented on, used as a guinea pig in experiments, but it is all okay because he will be reprinted and spat back out of the machine.

For all intents and purposes, Mickey is functionally immortal, like Ylfa says at the end, Mickey's fate is what everyone wants.

Even someone like Kenneth Marshall who acts all high and mighty and religious about his actions.

But while acting as such, he participates in the most depraved activities.

He talks about rationing food and calories to preserve the Human race till it gets to this new planet... "niflheim" but simultaneously his wife and himself stuff themselves with exorbitant amounts of food, even the kind of food that he hates, the so called "GMO" food.

The truth is these people will jump at the chance to do all these things that they call blasphemous but if they do so, they will loose the faith of those who follow them, those who follow them because they believe them to be holy men in their religion.

Kenneth Marshall

It is all posturing, it's posing, and it is ridiculous.

That is not to say that the reprinting process doesn't pose a threat, we see it pose one, as a psychopathic serial killer uses it to commit heinous murders on the homeless, and escape punishment.

And instead of solving the issue like Adults every single person in parliament is concerned with how the very concept of this is "Godless" as if God personally came and told them what he likes and what he does not.

There is the idea of Multiples, which happens when one is reprinted without dying, and well, they clearly reveal that the reprinting isn't perfect, cause if it were, then Mickey 17 and 18 wouldn't be so different.

Or Maybe the religious types have it correct, maybe if it is reprinting after death it is a single soul, but if it is multiple they are two different souls.

Who knows!!!

Instead of trying to solve this issue step by step logically, the problems that people present are how they don't know whether to treat multiples as accomplices or the same person or what... So they don't fit into the system, change it, or create a new one, this is a new thing.

But no that will require the one's at the top to give up their world view, to experience an inch of the turmoil that they force those below to go through.

Because it is true what the one's at the top say, the ones at the bottom do not have a fixed moral compass, or god as they would call them... that requires stability, and the ones at the top do not allow them that.

And the thing is, it is this lack of a fixed moral compass that allows them the flexibility and open mindedness to look at new situations and come up with conclusions that would at first seem absurd.

Because after all, who would believe that gross beetle looking things are actually intelligent creatures looking to live peacefully?

The Creepers.

Before I move on, I would like to specify that I am not suggesting a completely lawless society, that would be just as bad as a rigid and strict society, the laws and structures, they exist for a reason, but so often the real reason is lost in the noise and chaos of the world, either on accident or often because someone who is meant to maintain this system deliberately did so for some perceived benefit.

It is as they say, poison given as such is easily identified, so those who want to poison learn to mask it, that doesn't mean every bit of food is poisoned, but neither does it mean that no food is poisoned, society makes laws trying to identify poison based on placing some restrictions on food, as such, it'll always be a half measure in some sense.

Especially when humanity is still growing, and new types of food is introduced everyday, challenging what we already know to be true.

I hope that analogy is clear.

But regardless, these worm creatures, called creepers have their own language, Humans are colonizers on this planet, as such their attempts to sterilize can be seen as Colonizers killing the locals.

Mickey therefore is the Thomas to the main mother creepers Pocahontas, not in the sense that they... you know, in the sense that they communicate with each other, establishing a link between these two species.

But the Marshall obviously wants the moment for himself, with different intentions of course.

Mickey 18 dies killing Marshall, and fulfilling their peace treaty with the creepers to kill one person for their one lost one, and "be fair".

Keep in mind that without the Reprinting machine, there would be no Mickey 18, and Mickey would either die earlier therefore not having this connection, or never reach this planet, living a completely different life, or you know he would die here and Mickey 17 wouldn't have his happily ever after.

Mickey Barnes would have a very different story.

Nasha laughing.

And so after all this, do the newer powers that be finally allow proper ethical research with the reprinting tech to see how it could be implemented properly? nope!

Nasha, the one person who Mickey trusts and who looks out for Mickey, shuts down reprinting because obviously that is the problem, yes she is better than Marshall, but she is also a part of the same church, she wears the same robes, and just like before, even though Mickey loves what she is doing, he has a suppressed feeling that something is off.

But he puts it down, because he wants to be happy, but if his dream/premonition thing, is anything to go by, this isn't over.

Because outlawing tech doesn't stop it, it simply makes a black market for it, allowing it's access solely to shady individuals, the kind you were trying to stop from getting access to it in the first place...

Disasters happen, it's how you deal with them that is the answer no?

Before I go, my problem with the end of Mickey 17 is the same as with the end of the Demon Slayer Manga,

Why are you still here

why does "saving" Nezuko mean taking away what makes her special, similarly why does saving mickey mean taking away what makes him special?
