The Last of Us Season 2, I am going against my decision for this one episode

The infected break through the Jackson walls

You know a show is good when you make a promise to yourself to not cover it and then find yourself compelled to cover it anyways.

And that is the last of us season 2, the third episode is out, and these first three episodes have put a single thing in my head, this is less of a zombie show and more of a cowboys vs vampires show... let me explain.

The idea of Cowboys fighting vampires is something that appears in media repeatedly and consistently, it somehow seems to be the obvious choice really, for some reason.

I mean the game Evil West did it, so did the movie dead west, and there are two mobile games one called six guns and other who's name I can't remember, but it exists, believe me guys.

All these media properties have a very noticeable similarity, they are all about frontier justice.

You know the thing that is common amongst all spaghetti westerns?

There is the locale, the village, and then there is the beyond, the other, the walls to the city protect you from the bandits and the unknown dangers beyond, and those unknown dangers can be anything really, leading to like in the case of pirates, many many legends and urban myths.

And the comparison isn't without merit since pirate stories are about the ocean and Spaghetti westerns take place in a desert, that is an ocean of it's own, wide barren, unexplored.

Those within the Frontiers need to stick together and build towards the common good so they can protect the paradise they have created, there is the town doctor, the town therapist and the fact that all the buildings are made of wood doesn't make the comparisons go down.

Ellie asks for Justice.

And this comparison is cemented when the scene of the towns council meeting together to decide whether or not to send 16 of their best to kill the killers of Joel plays.

Tell me that isn't a western film and they are trying to do Frontier justice against a different community.

And to add to this, the vampire replacement, the Zombies, are perfect, you get a bite, you die and become one of them, everyone carries a gun and they ride a horse, so you go into a post apocalyptic world and what really happened is the world just got pushed back a bit, now I believe what should happen going forwards is Ellie's immunity should actually lead to a cure, and it should turn out that Joel made the right decision because that doc didn't know what he was doing.
