X-Men'97 Season 2 Episode 5: Are you just an Animal with claws?

So this episode takes a little bit of a detour just like the last season, where Episode 4 was Motendo/Life death part 1.

I think me and many others thought that what would give wolverine his claws again would be being turned into the horseman of Apocalypse War, because I guess we all wanted to see a crazed wolvie fight the entire team.

And I guess we got what we wanted, just not in the way we thought.

This side quest is about the brood which is an X-Men villain that is an insectoid asexually reproducing species and that is exactly what it does here.

Reproduce by infecting other beings.

It is a straight forwards story about Wolvie taking some files from Captain America in order to go to the Weapon X peoples who gave him his adamantium claws through the adamantium process and gathering a team under a false guise to do so.

He get's infected but the Adamantium process can get the brood out of him... and so it does.

The greater theme of this episode is Morph's feelings for Wolverine and how he obviously refuses to acknowledge them.

Not just in the spirit of not having a relationship with them, but in denying the person that Morph can see in him.

While my analysis of this episode is small, it's impact is anything but.

It shows Wolverine's infinite struggle with his identity and Morph's infinite struggle with their feelings for Wolverine
