Percy Jackson Season 2: Episode 8: My Nightmare just woke up.

Updated: Jan 28

Thalia is freed of the tree.

Well Percy Jackson, you've done it again, somehow you not only revealed the final twist of the book, still somehow had a final battle that was leagues better than whatever video game Finale they decided for the movie, and still made Thalia's return as big of a deal as it did in the books, maybe an even bigger deal.

Kronos the Video Game boss.

Thalia is older than Percy, she was older even when she was first turned into a tree, in the movie, her being freed from the tree didn't really make that much of a difference in her personality, sorry not sorry, so in this one, they just had her scream and electrocute Percy Jackson straight away, I don't know if she hit someone else as well, but here we are.

One of the strange things about this Final fight is that Luke actually ordered the tree be left standing at the end but pretty much everyone else wanted the Tree taken down, I guess this is because they all believe that Luke is blinded by his love for Thalia as a friend.

That is the only way I can justify everyone else trying to stop Clarisse and the others reaching Thalia's tree.

Clarisse has no friends apparently says Chris.

Also thank god for Anna running away with Percy otherwise Chris would have been on the cruise with Clarisse and would have surely stolen the Fleece for Kronos.

But Clarisse's surprising friendship and Tantalus resetting the Chariot race courses aside, let's actually talk about what is the main thing they changed from the books, and how I believe this makes the show a lot better.

Zeus is a Son of Kronos, and the next king of the gods after him, and in this episode, it becomes increasingly clear that he is just as, if not more of a Manipulative bastard as Kronos.

In the books Thalia dies defending Luke and Anna, in the show the Furies just talk and then die when they say something Zeus didn't like.

And yes, this time its Furies and not Cyclopes.

And Zeus turns Thalia when she says something he doesn't like.

Zeus turns Thalia into a Tree because he doesn't like what she is saying.

Seeing him there really made you realize what a smarmy little bastard he is, and you can see why everyone really hates him, he truly is the lesser of two evils.

And then everything pulls back to the dream Sally had of a Drachma with two sides with one Trident and one Scythe, at first ourselves and Percy included thought it was about Percy's two sides but now it seems, it is between the Champion of Poseidon and Kronos's champion.

Whatever message the Furies carried from Hades, was enough to anger Thalia permanently, and it seems the master manipulator and time lord who can also manipulate dreams had this in his mind all along, and that is why Luke and his team had to retreat.

I also like how well they show the real issue with Demigods fighting each other, and that is that Demigods can't be blocked by the Barrier and can allow enemy armies to enter from within.

It also seems, Chiron being son of Kronos had nothing to do with him being thrown, it was all about him knowing the truth of Thalia's tree.

Percy, Thalia, Annabeth and Grover stand in tense silence after Thalia asks where Luke is.

Whatever happens going forwards, this show has done (in my opinion) a much better job of making us really feel the frustration most Demigods feel with the gods, and how more often than not, they themselves are the architects of their own destruction.
