Spider-Man Brand New Day, they I am glad they went with what felt right.(Spoilers!!!)

The Hand is still alive and kicking guys, even after the five fingers of the Hand had been taken out and we know that this is the same hand as in Daredevil because Mayor Shiela from Daredevil Born again Season 2 is seen in this movie giving the key to the city to Spider-Man and Born again is definitely one hundred percent absolutely a continuation of the Daredevil Netflix show after season 2 because now they not only have Matt Murdock, the Kingy boi and Karen Paige but also Brett Mahoney.

I feel like I am missing a very big piece of evidence when it comes to proving the Netflix universe is the same as the MCU Now.

Yeah I don't know what it could be.

Dunno what it could be....

Now Brand New day thankfully for the love of god is a street level movie, it shows those sides of Spider-Man that we so rarely get to see it's not even funny...

But now things being street level does not mean that it is not significant.

In fact it is the most significant.

Because it is these street level things that ultimately lead to the big problems, when people are focused on "The Big Potatoes"(You will get that joke if you've seen it)

The worms often slip in through the small one, causing rots large enough to reach the big potatoes in the end.

And after all isn't the everyday people the reason you are even doing all of this in the first place? What is the point in making the world a safer place to live if the people living in it are still miserable at the end of it?

And miserable, at the hands of those who claim to work for their safety?

As far as threats go, the one in this movie is pretty straight forwards.

Sadie- The military industrial complex...

Wait did you think Sadie Sink was the villain?

NO!

NO WAY!

Max Verstappen always wins no matter what.

Have you heard his music?

Yes that is a joke about her character on Stranger things being called Max and listening to music and also Max Verstappen being a person in real life whose music has been spammed on my insta and what's app stories so many times by my friends that in spite of my undying belief that every race track is only interesting if it is surrounded by a pit of vipers and ends in the mouth of a giant crocodile so I can see every person who keeps this vile sport alive die a painful death the music has grown on me....

Yes that is the joke.

I think all race car drivers should die one thousand deaths(is everyone triggered yet?) but also I think Max Verstappen has nice music.

Am I padding the read time of this article with useless facts about my likes?

Or is this a clever set up for my forray into race car driving(NO!!!).

I don't know.

But what I do know is that Hotwheels actually did make my perfect race track proving that it actually can be done.

So I will believe Max Verstappen when he can race on this track sorry not sorry.

Anyways, Max is not the villain in this Tom Holland Story.

And neither is Disney Child actor Zendaya or the CEO of the Spider-Man Fan Club Ned Leeds.

And as a breath of Fresh air it also isn't Michelle Jones' new Boyfriend although there is a line about him sounding like a jerk.

I mean hey, you get what you get right.

No this movie, very cleverly I would say, sets up the upcoming mutant Hatred that will accompany the X-Men.

Damage Control was already being set up as the military industrial complex and prison industrial complex of Superheroes with things like Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man.

And if there is one thing the military industrial complex and the prison industrial complex hates, it is individuals that stand out.

I mean come on, you know it is true. Like that is literally Wonder Man, he is a powered individual and hence must be dangerous, when in reality he is just a guy trying to make his way in Hollywood.

But they need him to fill the cells so they can justify their funding.

In this movie, they go a step further.

You see it is not that government entities like this don't want special people, they do, they just want it to be the kind of people they can control "The Right people" as they say.

Of course I called in the Boys.

The DoDC kidnapped a young Telepathic Girl with the capabilities to jump into and posses anyone just so they can replicate her powers in someone they want the powers to be in.

And the main "villain" of this movie is trying to get her sister back by any means necessary.

No prizes for guessing that the sister is the Telepathic girl.

We see this kidnapping, we see her mind control the "villain" and make her walk away so that she isn't caught by the DoDC as well.

And we see basically a single bit of identifying information in a scrunchie that is colored green and gold something that we remember.

And another bit of information called V-Max.

For the longest time we only know that someone is attacking DoDC facilities using people who have been mind controlled and that this person can jump into anyone's body save spiderman's, Spider-Man is also the only person who is able to sense where she is.

And in the meantime Peter is beating himself up about being alone after he chose not to tell Ned and MJ about the memory spell and completely focused on his work and is having headaches due to his over exertion.

All things we know from the trailer.

What we don't know is the existence of De'Wolff, a police officer who is like the Jim Gordon to Peter Parker's Batman, and I do mean Batman.

As despite billion to one odds, Peter Parker still has his own AI in this movie called E.V.

All in all it seems the only thing this version of Spider-Man lost after No Way home is the blinky eyes apart from of course

I mean there is literally a scene where he tells De Wolff that he is running facial recognition across all cameras on scorpion after he escaped with the help of the mind controller.

De Wolff pretends not to hear that as that is obviously super illegal.

And through out the movie she is generally a mother figure to Peter replacing Aunt May who he so Tragically lost in the last movie...

Which is strange since Jean De Wolff is a sister to the original Wraith in the comics(Before Yuri) and is a lover of one Peter Parker.

Hmm, no clue who that is, wonder when we will figure out.

And the person De Wolff actually seemed to be based off of was Captain Stacy who in the comics is obviously the father of Gwen Stacy and is the most prominent fatherly figure after uncle ben.

Not at all like the movie version then.

Damn.

So that's references to two other love interests that they didn't bring in to this movie. But Spiderman had other ideas though.

Him throwing himself entirely into work to not focus on his friends is actually very relatable to everyone who is moving out of high-school/early college and/or people who have been left behind while their friends moved on.

And then of course While Peter tries very hard to keep it all in and not interfere with Ned and MJ's lives he ends up following Ned to her house warming party...

Okay that is what you don't do Peter.

And like an Anti Spider-Man 2 his Spider powers go into Hyper-Drive after he saw his love kissing someone else...

And while we all knew this was going to happen and that he would go to talk to Bruce Banner to ask for help past this, and also... "If DNA is mutating" a line that Bruce said in the trailers, which lead all of us to speculate that it is actually Jean Grey who is being played by Sadie Sink...

But what we didn't know is why he was going to Bruce specifically, I mean he is a Physics teacher for gods' Sakes.

Well now that I have seen it, it makes perfect sense, that he would go to learn of his inhibitor.

And make one for himself...

Because with these exaggerated powers he is also loosing control of his emotions, to the extent that he nearly killed a police officer while fighting the Scorpion being mind controlled.

Now why is this interesting?

Well because like Peter always is, he doesn't stop, his mind keeps going in the theoretical extremes, also because he is currently dealing with someone else with powers.

He theorizes a universal... "inhibitor".

Sound Familiar?

Okay yes, I haven't seen the gifted, Haha, you are very funny.

But also this above screenshot kind of puts what I am about to say into Jeopardy because I believe the Collar Wanda was wearing was supposed to be the Inhibitor, but shit like this happens all the time.

Point is, Spidey created the Mutant Inhibitor Collar, and I am saying Mutant so confidently because yes, we were all correct, the Mind controller looking for her sister is indeed Jean Ellaine Grey, Ellaine being a middle name I just learned about.

Damn, I wonder what people are going to say when they learn about this.

And I think Wanda being referred to here by me by mistake is really poignant (not intentional I swear) Because like Wanda, when Jean mind controls Bruce, the Hulk comes out, for the first time in a long while.

Now for those of you who don't know, quick TL;DR Bruce Banner has Dissociative Identity Disorder, the Hulk is a personality that has been suppressed since childhood but was unleashed when he became the Gamma being.

And that is why...

Professor Hulk was simply Banner Learning to transform while remaining Banner, usually the Trauma of the transformation is too much to not trigger a personality switch.

I think there have been stories where Hulk is in the Human body.

But regardless of all that, Since the Hulk is born of all the suppressed Trauma, he is the one with the most control of the powers, When the Hulk Persona takes over, he gets a lot bigger.

Now in throwing himself into work, Peter has put many villains in the DoDC prison and they have repurposed many of them(including the Hand) like the Shocker to create weapons, one of which Spider man uses to punch Hulk to high heaven.

Now, like in the comics, the Hulk has an immunity to mind wipes and hence remembers peter.

But we are missing out on one aspect right?

What is the Punisher doing here?

Well, TL;DR on the Punisher, he does what he does because his family was killed in front of him and he was left for Dead.

His initial killing spree was to avenge his wife and kids, but then if you saw Punisher: One Last Kill, then you know he is now a lethal protector.

NO!! NOT THAT ONE!!!!

It seems in the time that has elapsed Spidey and Punisher have had somewhat of a working relationship, enough for Spider-Man to refer to him in first person, and further trust him with MJ.

Wait MJ?

We will get to that.

But the Punisher is here to act as the Antithesis to Spidey's point of view

For Frank, this isn't a choice, if he had one, he would live a peaceful life with his wife somewhere out there and quiet.

And as such he immediately calls out Spider-Man's bullshit Martyr Complex.

And on the whole, that was a necessary push he needed, to stop self isolating so much.

It wasn't the only thing he needed, but it was one of the things.

But Spidey stopping his own self isolation isn't just important for his own growth, but also for the of Jean.

Jean tries very hard to get Spidey out of the way, and in order to do that, she Targets MJ, and Spider-Man thought that he had stopped her by locking her in a person far away from anyone else.

But unfortunately, it wasn't good enough.

Jean plays on Peter's emotions, makes him think that MJ figured out the spell, like that is actually something MJ would do though honestly, and we all fell for it, and in the moment after the kiss, Jean reveals herself....

This is obviously a way to mess with him but also, feels like something anti-social, anti-social tendencies probably formed after years of Trauma and self isolation.

And why wouldn't she self isolate? given that no one but her sister will probably understand what it is like to be a Telepath, and if she is reported, she will probably suffer the same fate her sister did...

I would like to mention here, that Peter later told MJ about this kiss.

Yeah, Yeah, I know that I haven't gotten along to Obsession yet...

But this is pretty much the same problem that Peter is going through, Suppressed emotions coming out in unsavory ways.

So, it seems at the end of it all Peter is the perfect person to talk Jean out of her current mental state, but first, he must help in her capture, and in doing so, ensure that the inhibitor tech falls into the hands of the DoDC.

And I bet her Hulking out(haha) and controlling half of New York is going to be used as an anti mutant talking point and as a way to point out the need for the inhibitor collars.

MJ points out how problematic the Collars are to Peter before he goes to Fight Jean, but in his self blame state, he really doesn't care.

But this period of Jean being captured serves three purposes, firstly, while Peter left MJ behind, she found the letter he kept with himself meant for her that he was never going to show to her.

After a conversation where she is rightfully angry, she tells him she doesn't love him...

I would have killed somebody...

This was important because Spidey needed to deal with his Trauma in order to be able to control his powers later.

And then that leads to the second purpose, for Spidey to be introduced to Ned and finally after so long have a moment of reprieve.

But what is point number three?

Remember V-Max... well, like before, The DoDC try to steal Jean Grey's powers to give it to someone "more responsible"(read controllable), something we initially saw as them simply repurposing Villain tech for better use, now takes a sinister Turn.

As we see the Scrunchie, and then as Jean is forced into multiple Jumps she sees a single Vent with the label ripping off a bit...

V-Max... the last word Sara spoke to Jean...

Makes her realize that she died in this chair...

And it seems the Phoenix force jumped into her for a bit or something, cause the inhibitor simply broke(I guess it is a prototype after all).

And as Spidey fights through the DoDC, the Punisher sees the wall behind which everyone is mind controlled.

Spidey is forced to fight with his natural powers as the DoDC has prepared specifically for his tech based web shooters and pre enhancement power levels.

So Far However, Peter has been learning from others, now the tables turn.

With all that he has learned, he lets Jean in, letting Aunt May speak to her through his memories.

And it turns out, even beyond the Grave she knows exactly what to say.

Going further along, Spidey teaches people shit, the Punisher still insists for things being done his way, and tries to kill Jean... Peter gets in the way.

And like so many, we get a comic book panel recreation

This movie is really into that eh? And I don't blame it for one minute.

Somehow, they still manage to keep Peter's Secret Identity.

And we see the Punisher actually make a friend(Finally!) and over all it was the most wholesome thing ever seeing him jump around in Spidey's Mask.

But now that Jean has escaped and we have the Mutant Inhibitors, I guess there is only one thing left...

How the fuck did Ned recognize Peter at the end?

Well, in the comics, the Spell cast by Doctor Strange had a caveat where he could voluntarily tell someone he is Spider-Man and the spell would just break, so the initial plan would have worked, and who knows, maybe even MJ would have remembered everything.

But she still wouldn't have loved him, I mean... he still did take her autonomy away right.

But that scene clearly proves that this is not how the spell works in the MCU, in the Comics, the Spider-Island event broke the Spell.

Spider Island entailed literally everyone in Manhattan gaining Spider Powers, and Peter unmasks himself in this event as a way to motivate everyone, thinking it is safe as literally everyone has the powers, but that doesn't work...

The spell Breaks.

But that clearly isn't happening here, but something very similar is happening, Jean knows peter's Identity, she knows who he is and what he did and has been through...

She had control of Half of New York for a very long time, is it possible, her mind control is altering people's memories too?

Like yeah they had no memories when she went into their head, but Jean knows the whole story, and for a while she was in Peter's head while controlling a major Chunk of New York, perhaps the Memories just got implanted.

Or maybe it was Muscle memory like so many are saying, who the Fuck knows?

I mean Spidey-Man will return in Avengers Doomsday...

Also remember Ned saying he is Magic?

Well Ned-Leeds in the Comics is the Supervillain Hobgoblin, and his version of Hobgoblin uses Chaos Magic

And what is the one thing we know of Chaos Magic?

Well it is a form of Magic Used by Witches and Witches are born not made... I guess Ned Leeds has Witch Heritage in his family?

And in the MCU Witches are famously known to be able to see with more than eyes, so maybe they can see through such spells if they train/ try hard enough.

So maybe this is foreshadowing for Ned's Villain Arc?

Who knows...

And also in the comics he was brainwashed to become the Hobgoblin...

Sounds like the Brainwashing done by Doctor Strange's spell after he promised he would never turn into an evil Super Villain...

Oh and also the Hulk is in Jail...

Again...

So I guess the DoDC didn't mention Jean's Mind control then...

They really do want to fill those cells, and the news definitely doesn't help....

They want the story of a peaceful academic snapping, cause it gets clicks.

"...After years as a Peaceful academic what snapped...." My foot...
