Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord Episodes five and Six, Maul fights an Actual Shadow.

Marrok Recognizes Maul.

Now as soon as Maul Shadow Lord started we knew that at certain point Maul was going to have to fight the Inquisitors probably alongside Devon, and with the last episode ending with Two Boots calling in the Empire, we really had no choice but to prepare ourselves for....

Marrok?

Um yeah, okay.

Now the problem with This particular inquisitor is that we have previously seen in the show Ashoka.

And you all might be wondering, why the fuck is that a problem?

Well it is so because back then there was a lot of Mystique and theories surrounding specifically around this guy.

Firstly, this Guy was voiced and played by Sam Witwer in Ashoka and if you didn't know he is like a star wars Veteran who has played at least Six other characters in the Star Wars Legends and Cannon combined.

And on of those guys has a name very close to Marrok

That's right Galen Marek, Star Killer.

Star Killer.

And for those who don't know, Star Killer is a powerhouse of a character introduced in the Force Unleashed Game.

Back then, we did not have Disney Plus and non movie cannon of the Star Wars Galaxy was called the Star Wars Extended universe.

Star Killer is so powerful that as a child Darth Vader attacked his father's house because he was a Jedi and sensing a stronger Force Sensitive close by, he thought the Jedi's master was around only to realize that it's a child.

And as the imperials get ready to shoot a child, Vader does an accidental good thing and kills all of them so that he can have a secret apprentice.

But as we play the game, he begins to realize that his own ideals don't really align with what Vader wants and he switches to the Light side.

At first in secret because he is tasked to bring all the Empires enemies in one place under the guise of forming an Alliance, but of course its a trap.

The thing is though, in the process he went through what all double agents go through and gained sympathy for the enemy and actually became a rallying point for the Rebel Alliance.

And once he saved all the leaders from the Emperor, the cannon ending leads to his death and as a Martyr his family's Crest becomes the Crest of the Rebel Alliance.

The Origins of the Rebel Alliance in The Force Unleashed.

Yeah... the earlier lore was a 1000x better.

Can we like, keep this origin for the Rebel alliance and also keep Andor and then just fuck off with everything else pleaaaaasssseeeee???!!!

I know.

And so as Ashoka kept rolling forwards everyone and their mother had the time of their lives theorizing about Star Killer potentially appearing in the Star Wars Disney Cannon, and that behind the Mask, Marrok was actually Star Killer....

And was he...?

Was he fuck.

Episode 4 rolls around and literally Farts on all of our ideas.

Marrok is a smoke cloud in an armour.

And now, that we see Marrok actually in action against Maul and him exclaim at him actually being alive, we start realizing how much of a missed opportunity this was.

And I don't just mean making Marrok Star Killer, because like, who else would Vader send after his masters old Apprentice that should be dead but his own secret apprentice cosplaying as an inquisitor.

But also, as he speaks and how intimidating he is and the way he investigates the place...

And his conversation with Maul suggesting a previous relationship with him...

What the fuck is Marrok even doing here?

Oh wait no I...I know...

Marrok is basically an extension of Morgan Elsbeth and since Maul is an ex night brother or Zabrack Native to Dathomir, Elsbeth recognizes him...

So that's how they can have their cake and eat it too.

Grand Admiral Thrawn and Morgan are famous for kind of going off and doing their own thing, and I mean this is 18 BBY, so... how did Maul survive the rest of the years if the Empire is already sending inquisitors after him.

And all that and how at the end we don't actually see who the Inquisitor's Master is.

I think it's very likely that the Emperor is probably not directly involved... somehow.

Marrok asks an unseen Hologram as to how he should proceed.

But whatever that is, there is more that happens in these two episodes.

Before we go there, I believe many people would think given my last two posts that I don't really like Maul Shadow Lord, and that isn't exactly true, it kind of just caught me out of left field, like I literally learnt about its existence like two days before the first episode came out through an instagram reel no less, and already dealing with four other shows...

You can see why I was a little salty.

There is also the sad reality that I still have a lot of Star Wars Backlog i.e. Rebels and Clone wars...

So... there's that...

But regardless, the Empire comes, and immediately fires the Chief, Devon and Daki try to escape but in the end are forced to come to Lawson's home for help, who by the end is somehow spared by Marrok, perhaps as a bait...

I don't know.

Lawson's son was kind enough to invite Daki and Devon in while they waited for you Lawson.

No this episode obviously has a lot of Lightsaber Action, and in the last episode after Finally having the Pykes under his control, Maul is confident he can win Devon as well.

And it is because of her that he doesn't escape even though he potentially can(so it is implied.)

Even as the Mandalorians he hired get restless.

Well, Devon is coming over to his side, and for good reason, their shared enemy makes them at least temporary allies, and her speaking this way worries Daki a lot, showing yet again, why the Jedi Philosophy really is flawed.

But after fighting it all off, Lawson's son learns the truth of the Empire, and the Naive Droid Two Boots also begins to see his mistake.

I wonder who will show up next, Morgan Elsbeth or Grand Admiral Thrawn?

"[scoffs] Those are not standard-issue, droid." Says an Empire Lieutenant to two Boots's Two Boots
Man really looked at Two Boots's identifying feature and said that's not Standard issue.

The only other important thing that Happens this episode is that we learn the Sul and Lawson go way back, and not to Tanalore but to Catalore.

And probably she will play a larger role going forwards...

Who knows.

Sul asked Lawson what he did now.
