Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord Finale, the inevitable happened Finally.

Varth Dader

Now we all knew some of how this was going to go, given that this is such a high profile case, that is, one involving Maul, Vader had to eventually get involved.

I guess it was too much to hope that this was just a section of the empire governed by Morgan Elsbeth and Grand Admiral Thrawn wasn't it.

But whether that is the case or not, and regardless of how confusing it is for a Nightsister Inquisitior to work with Vader, it has to be said that while this idea is predictable, it is very well executed.

But that is for a little later, first we must figure out how things got to this place.

And for that, we need to talk about Crimson Dawn.

Now it's introduction is not in the best of the projects all things considered, it was revealed to exist in Solo: A Star Wars Story at a time where it was being run by Qi'ra who took over after Dryden Vos.

But it seems it is not being lead by Vos yet, it is currently someone called Rintero, and he does not know that Vos is talking to its creator and former leader: Maul.

Why?

Dryden Vos tells Maul: "Once I complete my part of the bargain, you will kill Boss Rintero."

Ah yes of course, bro want's control.

So that is Maul's way out, but the first episode is called unlikely Allies, the organization that Maul created during the Clone wars and later got betrayed by coming back to save him in return for a favor isn't exactly and Unlikely ally...

Or wait maybe it is...

But they are not the allies in question.

The ones in question are Lawson and Maul teaming up all things considered.

Because in order to get to the Crimson Dawn Extraction, Maul needs to get out of the city, but how will he do that? Given The imperial lockdown?

The only way is Lawson, someone who knows all ways in and out of Janix after staying here for such a long time.

And the Lawsons alongside the two Jedi are in need of a transport off world.

Mutual benefit and all that you see?

Maul: "Perhaps you know a better route out of the city, Captain Lawson?"

But while the plan is straight-forwards and easily formed, it is in fact easier said than done.

Because apart from the Empire and the inquisitors, there is also a literal river of Acid there, which they have to cross on a single transport capable of taking only two people across at a time.

And this is after they singlehandedly cleared an imperial blockade outside, in a shocking twist, the inquisitors find them, leading to a battle where Maul and Daki are forced to fight on the same side, and surprisingly Maul makes sacrifices for all of them to be able to cross safely

Maul Lets Master Daki Cross.

And this was gold for what he wanted ultimately, and I do think Maul is being Genuine here, I don't think he is being manipulative, he knows perfectly well that the only way he is getting in Devon's Good Graces, is if he defends her current master.

But also, I think he does have some sympathy for the Jedi, tossed aside by Darth Sidious after his will was done they both were.

Now some might point to his later betrayal when he left Daki to be killed by Vader and say that it is a sign of his betrayal, but I think its more like, he just took a moment and thought, wait what do I want exactly?

This guy clearly isn't listening to my advice and is going to get himself killed regardless, do I want to die with him?

And also if he dies his anger pushes Devon towards me...

So I think he is Opportunistic but not exactly a proper Traitor.

And speaking of, obviously Vader is here.

Three characters wield lightsabers in a dark cave, one red and two blue. Intense, challenging stare. Caption: "You're no inquisitor."
Yes Maul, thank you for your very intelligent observation.

Now Maul does realize something about Vader that turns him into Shia LaBouf from Transformers 2007.

: "Oh, God. No, no, no, no, no, no, no!"

It isn't exactly clear why he does this, like whether it is the fact that he knows its Anakin or because he knows that he is Sidious's next apprentice.

But then he says this.

“No, if I am right, he knows how you think.”

I guess man just knows it is a Dark Lord of the Sith.

But now these two aren't the only ones running off, the Lawsons also exist, and there is a Large Gun and Multiple gunships in the way.

And then we have our obligatory sacrifice moment.

I say obligatory but that doesn't exactly mean it's bad, it is just like the rest of these two episodes, predictable but well executed which goes to show, you don't have to be an extreme genius to create good T.V., you just have to have good execution of what you want to do.

I guess it is time to get the very important context from the other Star Wars shows.

I'm Ready.
