Street Fighter, Rarely does one see a movie so true to its roots.

I have not played Street Fighter till date, ad everyone tells me this movie is terrible, but truly speaking, that cannot be further from the Truth.
It is bad in the Same way many would consider the Mortal Kombat II bad, in that it is so deep in its own Lore that it makes every single fan orgasm but leaves all the non fans in the Dust.
And I must say I love it.
This movie is in no way complex or hi brow, it is actually quite a bit over the top and oversexualizes some of its characters but importantly, I think its both men and women, you are free to argue with me on that.
Of the women who were sexualized two of them were M Bison's "Dolls" so... like... yeah... that... that's kind of the point.
That's why Bison keeps them around... apart from security of course...
And the third one is of course Chun Li... which I am like 50 50 on, like... I am a guy so I like it and she has always been Sexy but not necessarily Sexualized, at least that's what I can see from watching Street fighter on Youtube, again, haven't played the games.
But one thing Which I like regardless is that she does have a lot of Agency and her plot does play heavily into the main plot of the Story.
Which isn't very Complicated, because the main point is of course the Fights

And they are amazing played with the exact amount of Ridiculous swagger that is characteristic to Fighting games.
And from what little I know of Street fighter, I do know the Iconic way they say "Perfect" and "Hadoken" and some of the other Attack names that they speak out loud like this is a fucking Anime.
Which... sometimes it is...
You see in the intro and for multiple Flashbacks, this movie switches to an Animation which is brilliantly done and I appreciated as some things are just better in Animations and it has the exact kind of Exaggerations and focuses that are required for the emotional impact the Movie is trying for.
It also gives a clear demarcation of when something is a Flashback v/s when something is in the present.
Again, the story itself is quite simple, it also maybe plays a little to the movies Detriment, because Akuma looks a lot better in Animation than in live action... so I think...

Also as research for this Article I chose to watch someone who is actually a fan and learned that Akuma is called Gouki in Japan, which him and I both agree makes a lot more sense in terms of him being the brother of Gouken.
The name also means great Demon, I mean come on, why would you do this.
Speaking of names though, apparently Balrog was actually named Mike... Bison... and that is why a lot of his moves play like a bull... But they might be sued by Mike... Tyson... so they switched around three names.
Dictator(Vega) was not M Bison, Mike Bison was Balrog and Balrog(Claw) was now Vega.
Capitalism!
You know what, check his video out, I have also plagiarized a line from his video previously, so there is that.
Now as an Indian, I have to comment on Dhalsim.

He is played by Vidyut Jamwal who is actually quite well known for his martial arts in India, but also... he... how do I put it, makes quite a few unsubstantiated claims about the Martial Art he practices: Kalaripayattu.
His press interview is also quite a lot of... bullcrap, and over all the actual practitioners of Kalaripayattu don't really consider him the best person to represent them on such a big scale.
But that said, as a guy playing a character, he is perfect. The man basically is Dhalsim.
Although I do see him taking this a bit further than is warranted.
But for now, I believe he is bringing a lot of positive attention to India and that is good enough.
So that is Street Fighter, if there is one negative I will give to this movie then that is that it ends on a cliffhanger...
Oh also the Use What's up by 4 Non Blondes as something Ryu listens to calm himself and also how he is brought back from near death, which means He man is now forever connected to Street fighter and I love that.
