The Boys Season 5: Episode 4: Wait, Darth Vader is Luke's dad?

"-Wait. Darth Vader's Luke Skywalker's dad?"
Ah Butcher a Spoiler warning would have been nice no? But I guess that's not how we role now, is it?

The Boys continues to hold my attention even as the metaphors it tries to surround itself with are getting increasingly thinly veiled.

Strange thing is though, This season was written a lot before Homie boy decided to start calling himself God.

And then it came out right as Trump started to do that, I mean I think we are all being had, there has to be some greater conspiracy afoot right, like somehow the Boys is using Donald Trump for free marketing?

Cause if that isn't the case and The Boys of all things is predicting the future then we are in for some bad shit boys, we better strap ourselves in.

Granted, Daredevil predicted ICE much earlier in the comics, but it is what it is.

Now, this episode begins by mentioning the slight problem that the Virus is literally all gone, And then thanks to Butcher, so is Ryan and Zoe and Sameer, so while Frenchie cooks up some more of it, it needs time to grow, and because Homelander has Edgar, their only option, is to go to fort Harmony.

Caption reads "tense music playing".
Tense Music Playing is correct mother fucker because no one can prepare them for the monster that is hiding there.

The Episode is titled King of Hell and it is very apt, as both the Boys and Annie are descending into their own forms of personal hell, with... varying results...

But first let's talk about the Boys since I brought it up already.

They arrive at Fort Harmony right Before Homelander and Soldier Boy did, which yes they came together, we will get to it.

And they arrive to a welcome party of multiple dead bodies strewn everywhere, leading them to speculate in some very disrespectful ways as to who the monster might be.

M.M. says to Butcher about a corpse: "You should take her out to dinner first."

But like The Boys always ends up doing, the fucking Monster is something off the cuffs, It appears one of the people who took V1 at Harmony got the power to control Plants and their defensive capabilities i.e. the compounds they give off to stave off predators.

One such plant, makes you hostile and increases your Base impulses, For Homie and Soldie it's not that much of a difference.

Homelander Describes the wetness of his cock while pulling it out of Stormfront and then wiping it on her fucking chin

And speaking of Stormfront, Homie and Soldie have a dick measuring contest(quite literally) for who they have or haven't fucked.

Homebanger sees Firecracker to tell him about his ascension to the throne of Jesus and smells his father all over her.

And while discussing who they have or haven't fucked and what's common between them, they bring up Clara, and Soldier Boy doesn't believe that she took her own life, which speaking off, we know that in the comics Dead Supes can return through a Process using Compound V, we saw a version of that in the show with Hugh Campbell, Hughie's dad, but in the comics it happens to Silver Kincaid and Lamplighter.

But they are Zombies, they aren't the same anymore, just like it did for Hugh.

Zombie Lamplighter.

So Maybe that is what happens to her, or maybe she didn't die in the first place, Regeneration after all is always a possible power.

But leaving that aside, It seems Soldie was put in a Supe proof cell at this place where he tries to lock up Homelander, if only for a bit, and in the mean time, he is goaded by Frenchie to kill the one causing all the hate so he can save his friends.

How is Frenchie okay? Drugs.

It changed his brain chemistry.

But it seems that Soldier Boy had some history with him? Positive History, because earlier in the hate Aura he screams at him, and is happy to see him pinned to a wall, but after his death, he starts crying.

And want's Homelander to kill him?

Soldier boy wants to die.

But we don't have to talk about that until next episode, why did he come here in the first place? Well to destroy the V1 because he can't stand Homelander, obviously under the guise of helping him find it initially.

And no one knows where Starlight is, except for her father.

Wait what.

I think they took this opportunity to give her the only closure that she never got, meet her family, her other family, the one her father started after he left them, I guess like everyone a young Annie told herself that this happened just because he didn't want a family, or something along those lines, but really it was because he didn't agree with the mother's Parenting techniques.

And because He couldn't counter them without breaking his daughter's heart.

Finding out that your absentee parent wanted a Family but just not yours is a different level of devastating.

Finding out that your step brother thinks you are a child molester due to propaganda is actuall just awkward.

This whole sequence however serves just two purposes, to show that not everyone under Homelander's rule is buying it and there is resistance even after the threat to their lives, and secondly to tell Annie that leaving the ones you love is the worst mistake you will ever make.

I guess there is no one better than an absentee parent to tell you that.

Starlight says to Hughie: "I shouldn't have left you. I should've been here."

Good day to miss though Annie, good day to miss.

In the meantime, one thing I forgot to mention is that Sage implied heavily to Soldier Boy that going to Fort Harmony was a good Idea for him, and that's what convinced him to go and try to get rid of Homelander once and for all.

Because in the world of Vought, while O'Father and Ashley fuck each other like nobody's business they also decide to Launch ol'Homie boy as the new Jesus through some plan that Firecracker cooked up, holy shit.

Homelander thinks of himself as Jesus and Trump uses AI to do it.

Yeah there really is no difference anymore is there?
