Gen V Episode 5, Unlocking your true Potential.

Cipher Reveals Cate is in Elmira now.

This episode of Gen V begins with something that seemingly confirms one of the theories that people came up with after the previous episode, in a scene that shows Cipher's morning Routine where he cares for, nurses, feeds and bathes his "Father" only for Sister Sage to come in with a Gift and then BDSM him in front of "his Father" while looking not at Cipher but at "his father".

But all of that aside, this episode picks up right after the ending of the last one where Jordan and Marie are still reeling from the whole ordeal, with Jordan especially shaken up, obviously given that his body was literally controlled against his will...

And then Cipher comes in and makes it not any better for either of them by calling Jordan weak and telling the two of them that Cate is in Elmira now as payback for their little "fishing expedition".

This is what gives rise to the main plotline of the episode where the main gang tries to rescue Cate inspite of everything that has happened between them so far.

Meanwhile!

Sam after having his attack in episode three, being rejected by Cate to calm him down and talking to Jordan about his love for a children's cartoon, finally makes his way to the Riordan house to his parents.

And he does this by letting himself in through a broken door leading the parents to take up arms against him with a bat, which they drop once they see who he is.

Sam Riordan does this for two main reasons, partly because he is homesick, and partly because he wants to know why he was given Compound V in the first place.

He wants to know that because of course he blames it for his Schizophrenia.

But initially he just wants to reconnect with his family, a thing that almost begins to go south until he learns that a) his parents did try to visit him and b) the V didnt give him Schizophrenia his mom's genes did. Something she knew about everything since her brother almost did a public shooting.

The V was an attempt to save him.

Seems like a Running theme doesn't it in this season of GenV, I mean from the very first season of the Boys, it was repeatedly hammered into all of us that Supes were essentially the result of Greedy parents trying to make a quick buck off of their kid.

We saw this first in Twilight, it was reinforced in the boys presents Diabolical in the second episode titled: "An Animated Short where pissed off Supes kill their parents, It's almost over too! Weird to put the title this deep, but we can do whatever we want!" Where multiple supes with "useless" powers (according to somebody lol.) Hauled off by their parents to Red River because they didn't get what they were promised do exactly what's said in the title.

And the Supes have every right to be pissed, Imagine being Rogue from X men and nearly killing the first person you ever touched first base with and then finding out that your parents chose this for yoh against your will? God I'd be pissed off too.

Rogue nearly kills her first serious boyfriend.

Or, Or Imagine you are Iceman and your parents ask you have you tried not being a mutant and then you realise that they chose this for you?

Bitch!

Think I am exaggerating?

Then just look at what Jordan's Parents think of them.

Or in their books I Guess Jordan is still a him.

Jordan's father isn't pleased when they turn into a Girl for a bit.

And while Jordan has definitely at least once done what they are accused of here, I think it misses the point that whether to be a girl or a boy should be their choice and not their father's.

But anyways, turns out while some parents are dickheads, not all of them are, some like Marie's parents just want to have a kid and Vought puts them in a clinical trial, some like the Riordans want to protect their child but end up biting more than they can chew and are forced to make a decision they hate.

I mean hey, if we can sympathise with Hughie for having to put his Brain Dead father down after he got fucked by compound V that was given to save him, I think we can empathise with the Riordans for sending Sam to Sage grove

Sam reveals where he saw his first Vagina to his mum.

And well, I guess the man does get his revenge.

But because of all this, he refuses to go help the main Gang in helping break out Cate.

He claims its because he realized that she is actually evil, but really, I feel that he currently has a very low self image of himself... and currently just doesn't want to get involved.

And as a result, they get captured and put into Elmira alongside Cate, Cate herself is treated like absolute shit, forced to strip in front of male guards, and put in a shock collar, and then everyone else who tries to save her is treated the same.

Emma gets the Magneto Treatment of a gigantic Glass-box in plain sight to prevent her from shrink/escaping with the use of her powers, with the side effect of granting her zero privacy.

There once again, the characters deal with their psychological Trauma, Marie only wanted to come here because she thought about cutting herself everyday, something she convinced herself was only a way to use her powers.

Powers which can very easily be neutralized with the use of an Anticoagulant called...

Cipher gave Marie Heparin.
Which I also knew existed only because of Chicago Med.

So she probably shouldn't make the cut worse than it already is.

But why would Cipher want all of these kids here after making a big Hoopla about getting them to their full potential?

Well he reveals in a conversation with Polarity that not only is he extremely immune to pain, he also was the reason Andre died, in an experiment to push him to his full potential or something, so what they thought was an escape attempt was really just a set up.

Something which becomes more relevant later on, but first Sister Sage brought a Gift for Marie and Cipher, none Other than, Annabeth herself.

Annabeth.
No not the one from Percy Jackson...

She is supposed to be Marie's incentive to go along with Cipher's plan, and once he crosses this line, Marie Makes up her mind, she will do it, but she will then proceed to kill Cipher.

But she doesn't end up doing the killing, because in the Meantime, Cate has a pin in her mouth, and she uses it to jimmy her lock.

And then makes a Guard violate his own eye because her powers still aren't Working properly.

Once everyone gets out Jordan once again enters Admiral Ackbar mode

Jordan realizes that its a Trap.
Yes I stole this from Heavy Spoilers, what about it? Not like he came up with the meme.

They are somewhat proven wrong once the Alarm actually goes off, but Marie still insists on getting out Annabeth.

Too late for that though...

Annabeth is Dead.

Well that definitely didn't go as planned, but this is Marie Fucking Moreau we are talking about, the first person to actually have Fucking as her middle name after Garcia Fucking Hotspur.

Don't worry you don't have to get the joke, sometimes you write things just for yourself.

Garcia Fucking Hotspur.

And Marie just doesn't even think, she straight up does what she wanted to but couldn't with Cate, she straight up heals and brings Anna back from the dead.

while giving herself and everyone around her nosebleeds in the process, for a moment I thought she was going to go accidental Neuman on all of them, which, I wonder if she was also a part of Project Odessa?

Maybe that's how she found out about Marie's existence in the first place, and not from Red River or some shit.

Who knows, one thing is for certain, as the end credits teaser for episode 6 says.

Marie says Cipher killed her sister just to see if Marie could bring her back.

Well not exactly end credits, this is a separate video on Prime video, it just plays after the episode is done running, but you get the Idea.

Now, this whole bringing people back from the dead thing is something that John Godolkien does in the comics, I believe to Silver Cincaid, and a few others like Lamp Lighter, although that might have been done by someone else.

John Godolkien was a parody of Professor X, I mean you know it if you have seen my previous Blog posts about Gen V.

Say it with me now....

1.This is superman but he eats babies.(yes Homelander ate babies in the comics)

Homelander eats a baby

2. Captain America but he's a f*cking coward who got his entire team killed... also he wet his pants.(man this person reminds me of Jenson Ackles so much).

Soldier boy pisses himself

3.We have Iron man, but he is a pervert.(that better not be foreshadowing.)

Iron man being a true man
you go king!

4. These are the X-men but professor X is that uncle your mom warns you about.

John Godolkin is that man your mom warned you about

Goddammit Garth Ennis, I get that you are bitter but seriously dude.

Now somehow my brain had all the puzzle pieces but didn't put them together earlier, but like, Thomas Godolkein is just the Shows version of John Godolkein, man is professor X, of course Cipher is a meat puppet, and instead of being wheelchair bound, ol' Professor G is a burn victim in a Hyperbarric Chamber, I will say though, the G-Men in the comics don't actually have a very good ending....

I so hope the show doesn't go that route, I want to see Marie kill the shit out of Homelander seriously.
