Gen V season 2: Episode 6, When absolute power is Challeneged

The main Gang in Stan Edgar's Bunker.

Episode 6 takes on right after Marie literally had a straight up Jesus moment for the fucked up world of The Boys in which she revived her sister who had been killed by Cipher to manipulate her for his own needs.

After all of this and after escaping the prison of Elmira by the use of Annabeths very convenient pre cognitive powers, the gang decides to fuck off to Canada.

And they would have because right now they have no better course of action as they are surely wanted fugitives at this point.

Well... they do have one way out, except really it only kicks the can down the road.

It is very clear that at this point Cipher wants something out of Marie and isn't just helping her for the sake of it.

Cipher wants Marie to be found

And it is also clear that there is something else going on with the whole relationship between Cipher and his... ahem, Father.

I mean who doesn't fuck their buddy while their dad watches no?

And in this episode when Cipher looses Marie, he punches his "Father" calling him a "pink little Dumpster Baby" before going back to helping him with his leg.

Like this can just be his anger, But more likely the burnt man is Thomas Godolkein and he is controlling Cipher like a puppet and this is self hatred.

I mean especially looking at how lifeless his eyes were once he went back to helping his "Father."

But anyways, the real power of Cipher, even beyond his obnoxious mind control, is the fact that he is just straight up Manipulative, or, he has someone on his team who is manipulative.

You know Sage.

Speaking of Sage, I am actually a little surprised that she is still a villain in this movie, because the closest I can find to her in any other universe, is the leader.

Sister Sage is the Boys equivalent of Marvel's Leader.

See, for one, she does not have any form of Precognition, and yet she can see a lot of things happening before they actually happen, she is merely using her mind to predict all possible outcomes.

Her brain regenerates when mutilated, and she needs to lobotomize herself to enjoy things else she just sees everything.

I believe that even the very first time deep saw her Lobotomized she had planned that somehow in an attempt to manipulate him.

She is so smart she plans her lobotomy.

And her mind control is really through out side sources, like for example here she is doing it through Cipher.

And he believes he can trust her because she clearly needs him and loves him, and they have similar ideology, but really she can't be trusted, she only plays for herself.

But then why is she helping Cipher heal his father? Like come on, its very clearly what he wants right? Like look at how she cures Anna, if she can do that, what cant she do?

Who knows.

My only thing is why is she a villain, I thought all who appeared to be villains were actually heroes maligned by the corporate world and the Heroes are just corporate products.

Why didn't they go down the road of a smart person will actually come to the conclusion that being nice is the way to go... yeah she is a scary villain and all, but like really I can't shake the feeling that this only happened because She is a show original character and the writers have clearly got an agenda.

And before you say it, no! I am not critiquing this because I have an issue with that political side, I hate god's not dead too, in general whenever writing a good story takes a second priority to anything there are some issues bound to arise, and virtually every story has this issue, no author is a hundred percent accurate now are they?

And yes, I am aware how media griftery that line is, but lets not be all George Bush about this alright.

George Bush is our worlds equivalent of Anakin Skywalker(Yeah I said it!)

But regardless, My dear old Cipher tries to get to Polarity after saving him from his latest Seizure and tries to convince him to get a message to Marie that if she comes and continues her practice then he will spare her friends.

But obviously he doesn't agree, and so Cipher is forced to control him while he gets a call from Harper's friends.

In the meantime the gang is trying to get settled in in an old library and get a change of clothes, and this is where we learn Anna is a pre-cog, their time is cut short at first by the Viking and then by Zoe the Lovecraftian horror daughter of Victoria Neuman, recently saved by her Grandfather Stan Edgar from Red river.

Zoe the Lovecraftian Horror.

What the fuck do Stan and Zoe want from Marie and the gang?

Stan Edgar wants you(yes this is an uncle Sam reference)
Well not you specifically, but you know, Marie.

It turns out Project Odessa is/was an elite project designed by Thomas Godolkein to create god level supes, and has so far had only two known survivors, Homelander, and Marie.

And Thomas wanted to control Supes, and if by any chance Cipher's "Father" is Thomas, then he can control Homelander.

I guess he is the key to everything.

Also obviously Edgar has an underground bunker for apocalypse situations.

And while all these revelations are going on, Cipher gets a huge blow to his power as for the first time in his life someone resists his mind control and sends him Flying with a force enough to break a window, somehow Cipher Survives this.

Somehow Palpatine Returned.

No wait no, I am being unfair anyways, this is huge cause now the all knowing Dean is no longer all Knowing.

And it seems Cipher and Polarity have a very Professor X/Magneto thing going on, which is another thing in support of Godolkein being the real Cipher while the one we see is just a "meat puppet" as he calls it, and his "Father" in the Hyperbaric Chamber is actually Thomas Godolkein.

Because if you remember, Professor X is in a wheelchair.

And also, in this case, Polarity doesn't need some helmet to block Cipher, just himself is good enough.

Polarity counters Cipher's mind control.

Anyways, the episode ends with Marie showing her hero complex once again and going off to find Godolkein once again, and Cate deciding to not let her go alone, because she wants her power fixed and because Marie is her friend duh...
