Mission impossible Dead Reckoning part 1 which is just dead reckoning now because it has the real Agent Carter in it and yes this is the entire title, you got a problem with that punk???

Movie poster

In my "quickly watch every mission impossible movie in its entirety before going to see the "Final Reckoning" of this entire franchise" I have successfully lost hours of my life and of my sleep, hours that I will never get back and am now facing the repercussions from.

As the title of this post will suggest.

You know I literally was finishing this movie's ending on 1.5 x speed on my phone when the beginning ads were rolling on mission impossible the final reckoning, because the movie had to throw in an extremely long and totally necessary stunts action sequence at the end of the movie when the key had already been won by the good guys and a new character who is a pickpocket played by non other than the actual Agent Peggy Carter and NOT Jane Carter, Haley Atwell.

So this movie is all about a key, is it the key to Tom Cruise's heart? No! And literally why would you want that, I mean the guy is hot and all but may I remind you he's also a proud Scientologist whose wife left him to save their child from this same fate.

Regardless, in keeping with the mission impossible traditions of taking a real world threat and making a Tom Cruise stunts showcase out of it, this movie deals with two main threats, the threat of AI and the threat of Tom Cruis... I mean Ethan Hunt's retconned past.

Mr. Gabriel, the herald of the Entity which is the AI that Ethan will be hunting this time(see what I did there?) and this AI is capable of everything, it can wipe camera feeds erase records and create fake news and... is this Arnim Zola from Captain America the Winter Soldier???

Arnim Zola the computer.

Anyways, this time the mcguffin is a key, that is split into two pieces, anyone who has both halves of they key controls the entity, why? Well to the eagle eyes viewers and those with a rewind function on Netflix, it will be quite clear that the two halves of the Key are the same two halves that we see in the beginning prologue in a scene that is otherwise disconnected from the rest of the movie meant to mostly show the true power of the entity.

So basically if you are eagle eyed you will realise, that one of the first actions of the entity are to make a submarine torpedo itself by making it see a fake submarine where there are non and then taking away its abilities to stop the torpedo so it destroys itself.

The question one would ask is why would the entity do this? But it did so we will keep that in our mind for now and I will resist spoiling it as I have seen the next movie.

But what is actually going to happen in this movie, well what is happening is Ilsa has a hit put on her by CIA director Kittridge to get one half of the key, yes that Kittridge from mission impossible one, and Ethan finding it out and being ordered to steal both the keys.

Ethan just like in 2 decides to destroy the entity like he did for the Chimera biological weapon, kittridge like every good American official wants to take control of the Entity so the Americans can have that power.

AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!!!

But where is the other key? Well its with the pickpocket agent Carter called Grace obviously, and ensue a car chase where everyone is chasing everyone else with Ethan running from the authorities and CIA and IMF operatives and Gabriel's people which includes another badass French woman called Paris.

A French woman called Paris... okay then.

To spice up the chase Grace and Ethan are chained to each other by hands in a way that Grace has to always drive but she ks not well equipped to, so Ethan has to drive anyways with his other hand in an awkward position.

Never has the standard for driver's seats always being on the right side been more frustrating.

But all of it is for nothing as Grace escapes again and again until the White Widow is pulled into all of this to be confronted by Gabriel and Paris asking for both the keys and threatening that either of Ilsa or Grace will die.

Oh and Ilsa survived the hit on her by faking her death.

Too bad that Ilsa dies anyways in order to save Grace.

Ilsa Faust Dies of an eeny meeny stab wound at the hands of Gabriel after everything she has been through

And so now it is upto Ethan, Benji, Luther and Grace to wear Mission impossible masks and infiltrate a train deal between Alana the white widow and Kittridge the new director of the CIA(I wonder what happened to the old one?)

But the mask maker isn't masking anymore so only Peggy Carte... I mean Grace must go.

Meanwhile!

Mr. Hunt has surpassed all his craziness in stunt performances and decided that it is time to jump from the top of a mountain onto a moving train while riding a bike and having a single parachute.

Will he survive or will he die by hitting rock bottom, there is so much Tension, whatever shall the audience do?

They shall see a train deal after Alana is knocked out and Paris betrays Gabriel they decided. Why you ask? Because it is written you fool!

Just like it is written that if there is a train in a mission impossible movie, it must be derailed, and so it does.

And this is where we leave Dead Reckoning, with Ilsa dead, Grace being the new love interest who coincidentally also happens to be a thief like Nyah(you thought I forgot about that huh?) and Kittridge allowing Grace into IMF alongside a massively Angry Alana, all while Paris is supposedly bleeding out on the corner after having Saved Ethan and Grace because Ethan spared her life.

The key is with the Heroes but the Entity is still at Large, whatever shall our Heroes do?

Grace accepts the mission to join the IMF.
